Andrea Bramhall

Reviews of Ladyfish

A gripping tale of romantic intrigue - 5 out of 5 stars from RLynne on Amazon, Nov 24, 2012

"Debut author Andrea Bramhall has given readers a book of romantic intrigue, set in the Florida Keys. Daniela Finnsbury-Sterling has left England with her best friend Pete. Their goal is to escape Daniela's, (Finn to her friends), controlling father. Finn's plan is to stay in the Keys, and become a scuba diving instructor, hiding under the water. Finn has enlisted the help of Olivia Zuckerman, (Oz to her friends and her students), to train her. Bramhall's protagonists could not be more different from each other. Finn is extremely unworldly, raised by her cold and distant wealthy father via nannies, cooks, private schools, etc. She is now a highly trained scientist. Oz is a Navy brat, close to her family, and known for her many dalliances with the ladies. When Oz meets Finn, she has a strong need to be her friend, and to try to protect her. As the training sessions go on, the two women become very close, with sparks which signify more than friendship!

The intrigue part of this story involves Finn's father, Navy intelligence, as well as British intelligence. There is danger, evil, and a cliff hanger ending which promises a sequel to this well written, page turner. "

One of the best books that I have read this year! - 5 out of 5 stars from M on Goodreads, Nov 4, 2012

"Starts with a bang and never let's up for the entire book. Loved the characters of Oz and Finn, loved the setting and the plot was like something out of a good Jack Higgins novel.

For a first book, this was amazing. The quality of the writing and pacing of the romance was superb. It takes real skill to balance the genres of romance and thrillers so well.

I cannot wait for the writer's next novel - whatever it is I'm sure that I will love it."

A Great Debut Novel! - 5 out of 5 stars from L.T. Marie on Amazon, Nov 26, 2012

"What an incredible story for a first time author. Believable. Exciting. You don't want to put it down. The author has extensive knowledge of diving and the scenery and backdrop give you the feeling that you're there experiencing everything with the characters. I look forward to reading all of Andrea Bramhall's books from now on. Well done!"

Dive into intrigue, great adventure and memorable characters - 4 out of 5 stars By Erin Saluta on Goodreads, Nov 21, 2012

"I enjoyed Ladyfish for the adventure love story that it was. I though Andrea Bramhall did a wonderful job of bringing the two worlds of SCUBA diving and love together perfectly. There was just enough information regarding SCUBA that the reader could understand and dive with the characters under the beautiful waters of the Florida keys, making the setting real without overloading the reader with the technicalities of diving. The intrigue action of the story was fun and kept me turning the page. The author did an excellent job of tying up all the pieces and then tempting us with more. Looking forward to the sequel and more adventures with Oz and Finn."

Well-written romance cum thriller - 4 out of 5 stars By Philologus on Amazon, Nov 11, 2012

"Kudos go to the publisher Boldstrokesbooks with their great record of nurturing debut authors and their "first-born" books and to Andrea Bramhall the debut author in question: a wonderful read with great characters, great dialogue, sweet romance and an evil angle is waiting to be savored. Loved the navy crowd of Oz and the wonderful descriptions of diving and the ocean.
Two points to be raised: Finn is from England and I for one had loved to have "heard" more of the British accent. IMO it was to Americanized. And if there is a series planned please do make that clear on the cover-blurb.
And BTW a sequel would be more than welcome of this excellent book."
